100 Thieves and Cloud9 undefeated in first day of the LCS Lock-In
The LCS Lock-In is the second annual pre-season tournament meant to kick off the start of the LCS competitive season. Though not all teams were able to begin with their intended regular season starting rosters, all ten squads will inevitably face off. The Lock-In started with Group A, as Cloud9 and 100 Thieves remained undefeated in the initial day of games.
100 Thieves clear the group
100 Thieves ended 2021 by winning its first LCS Championship, becoming the fifth team to do so. With relatively few roster moves, primarily adding more coaching staff, the team retained its championship caliber roster. The team appeared to pick up right where it left off, defeating both Golden Guardians and TSM on day one. Despite the fact that they faced the full academy squads of their opponents, 100 Thieves still had a strong outing.
Closer had two stellar performances, proving that he is still the driving force behind this 100 Thieves squad. With a combined 14 KDA, a 75% KP, and a 32% kill share, Closer was among the most impressive individual players on the day. Though only day one of the Lock-In, 100 Thieves have cemented themselves as the clear favorites in their group.
Can Cloud9 compete?
Despite overhauling its roster, several players from the new Cloud9 roster were unable to secure entry into the country before the start of the Lock-In. In their absence, Darshan, Zven, and Isles are all temporary starters.
Former Cloud9 starter Zven had an impeccable day, especially on his final game on Ziggs where the ADC secured a penta kill to close out the game. Though this look for Cloud9 may not be permanent, the squad certainly looked worthy of competing with the other top teams of the group.
