This could end up as the biggest offseason transfer of 2020. After weeks of rumours and hearsay additional details regarding a potential move of G2’s star player have surfaced.
According to ESPN’s Jacob Wolf Luka “PerkZ” Perković is on the move for a record sum. G2 Esports have allegedly been in talks with six different organisations: Evil Geniuses, 100 Thieves, Cloud 9, TSM, Misfits and Team Vitality have all shown their interest for the Croatian superstar.
PerkZ preferred destination is reportedly Cloud 9 but accordign to Wolf the record-buyout of $5 million is hindering the transfer. If the move to the LCS happens PerkZ would allegedly also cash in on a record salary for the North American League.
End of five years of G2?
Should PerkZ leave G2 it would mark the end of a defining five years in the European organisation in which the Croatian has become the face of the team. During his tenure he achieved eight LEC titles, a MSI victory in 2019 and three consecutive Top 4 finishes at Worlds.
One of the key motivations for his move despite his reservations against NA seems to be his desire to play mid again after he back and forth to the bot lane in the wake of Caps’ transfer to G2 in 2018.
