VALORANT: Riot might be changing up the VCT Challengers format soon

Riot Games might be looking at some changes for the VCT Challengers format, as competitive VALORANT continues to grow.

When it comes to competitive VALORANT it’s clear that the scene has continued to grow over the past few months. As the stage 1 Challengers have concluded, the European region can now look forward to their very first Masters. In a brief interview with Dot Esports, head of VALORANT Esports in Europe Daniel Ringland talked about the future of VALORANT in the region.

The current challengers format has been criticized by fans and players alike, already forcing some smaller chances. The format might also be a little convoluted and confusing, as Ringland talks about changing it to become more simple. “I think it’s important we have robust regional tournaments that create an ecosystem where our best get better. I also think we need to simplify our structure so the journey is easier to follow and get excited about.”

As top teams such as Fnatic and G2 Esports weren’t able to secure a spot in the stage 1 Masters, questions have come up about the closed qualifier format as well. While it’s great to see some new faces put up great performances and being picked up by top organizations, it’s clear most of the teams would welcome some changes and it’ll be an issue Riot Games has to overcome to make the VALORANT ecosystem a little more stable.
