NA Masters: TenZ thrives on Sentinels lineup and 100 Thieves advance

Day two of the NA Masters saw Sentinel’s succeed despite their circumstances.

Many worried that Tyson “TenZ” Ngo’s re-entry into the competitive scene would have a stagnant start. On a team like Sentinels, which has an incredibly casual but volatile playstyle, failing to synergize as certainly a legitimate control. TenZ picked up right where he left off as he proved integral to Sentinel’s win over Luminosity Gaming. TenZ traded incredibly well in the first two games, but truly popped off on Icebox as he earned 27 kills, a 73% ESR, and 1.41 KPR.

Luminosity, with their recent performances, would have proved a difficult initial series for any team in the tournament. Sentinels proved themselves up to the task however, as they won 2-1. Whether or not TenZ plans on remaining apart of this roster remains to be seen, but this new and improved squad was firing on all cylinders and made themselves one of the early favorites of the NA Masters.

The second series saw 100 Thieves defeat Immortals with a clean 2-0 sweep. The first map, Ascent, was a close 13-15 OT win for 100 Thieves. This map was somewhat of an anomaly for both teams, as their respective top fraggers,  Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk and Andrew “ShoT_UP” Orlowski, both saw sluggish starts. Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella stepped up on his Sage pick, finding 27 kills and closing out the game with a clutch double kill.

After falling behind on the defensive, 100 Thieves claimed Haven with a strong five-round win streak on attacker side. Nitr0 showed his versaility by performing equally as well on Breach and earning 1.64 K/D. Meeting Sentinels in the winner’s bracket, 100 Thieves cannot be too confident as their inability to find a consistent Operator presence, and Ethan’s reliance on Omen may prove to be their downfall.
