Dev1ce leaves Astralis, signs with Ninjas in Pyjamas
In a shocking transfer move, Astralis will be parting ways with dev1ce after five years, as he joins up with Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Ninjas in Pyjamas announced the move today on their social media pages as well as their website, confirming that Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz will join up with the organization as their new AWPer. He went on to make a statement on the move on the Ninjas in Pyjamas website. “How NIP works with mental health was a huge factor in the decision. Everyone who has followed me through my career knows that I’ve experienced it all; from choking to winning. It’s true that winning a first tournament can light up the spark, and I’m confident that I can bring a lot of winning culture to this talented roster over time.”
The COO of Ninjas in Pyjamas, Jonas Gundersen, also commented on the deal. “Bringing in dev1ce is a huge testament to the work everyone around the club has been doing for the past years. We set out on a venture to rekindle the magic that NIP stands for and, in this day and age, that means transforming into a modern esports performance unit that can define new standards.“
His departure from Astralis marks the end of an era and the end of one of the most successful CS:GO rosters of all time, dominating the scene for about two years and winning multiple trophies alongside three back-to-back Majors. It’ll be interesting to see how Astralis will look going forward and if dev1ce can establish dominance at NiP as well.
