Everything you need to know about DreamHack Masters Spring 2021
DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 is drawing closer as we take a look at everything you need to know about one of the biggest tournaments in Europe.
Format
DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 will consist of two stages of play. The tournament will start out with a group stage which will run from April 29 to May 1. All participants have been divided into two groups of eight teams each. These groups all feature a double elimination format with an upper and lower bracket. The first matches in the groups will be best-of-one, while all following matches will be played out in best-of-three.

The winners of the group stage will get to move on straight to the semi-finals and skip the quarterfinals entirely. These quarterfinals will be played by the runner-up of the group stage (the high seed) and the teams which ended up placing third (low seed). These playoffs consist of a single-elimination bracket and will all be played in a best-of-three format, aside from the Grand Final, which will be a best-of-five.
Prize pool
Aside from a big cash prize pool, DreamHack Masters Spring also offers ESL Pro Tour points to high-placing teams. When it comes to the cash prizes however, first place will take home $100.000 alongside 1000 Pro tour points, while second place earns $42.000 and 750 Pro tour points. Both teams that ended up in third to fourth place will win $20.000 and 525 Pro tour points.
Participants
In total there’ll be sixteen teams participating at DreamHack Masters Spring 2021, including some of the highest ranked teams in the world. As we mentioned earlier, the teams will be split up in two different groups, group A and group B, with an upper and lower bracket for each group. A total of three teams per group will push through to the playoffs, where the two best performing teams will get to start in the semi-finals.

Some teams such as Astralis, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, mousesports and Natus Vincere are partner teams of DreamHack, while other teams such as BIG and FURIA Esports made it in based on their ESL World Ranking. Team Spirit and paiN Gaming qualified through DreamHack Open January Europe, while Heroic, Complexity Gaming and Team Fiend qualified through the European qualifiers. Extra Salt won out in the North American qualifier after defeating High Coast Esports 2-1.
Where to watch?
Those who want to follow along can do so through the ESL CS:GO Twitch channel, which features an English broadcast which can be found here. The group stage will be played from April 29 (starting at 12:00 CEST) until May 1. Playoffs will start May 7 with the Grand Final scheduled for May 9 (starting at 16:00 CEST).
