G2 Esports, OG and FunPlus Phoenix qualify for IEM Summer 2021 through closed qualifier

After three days of CS:GO action, three teams were able to secure a spot at IEM Summer 2021 through their results in the closed qualifier.

These three teams were OG, FunPlus Phoenix and G2 Esports. Probably the most interesting of the three was OG, who went on a perfect run throughout the closed qualifier, reaffirming their current great form, beating out Trident Clan, FaZe Clan and Movistar Riders to secure their spot.

FunPlus Phoenix had a little more trouble along the way with Skade and BIG, but eventually sent G2 Esports to the lower bracket and qualified. In that lower bracket G2 Esports showed they belong however, defeating FaZe Clan in an interesting 2-1 victory, followed by a breezy 2-0 victory over mousesports to secure qualification.

Now that the closed qualifier is over, 15 of the 16 teams that will participate in IEM Summer 2021 are known, already featuring some top tier teams such as Astralis, Gambit Esports, Heroic and more; The final participant will be selected through the ESL National Championships Global Playoff, where one of the teams who won their regional league will be qualifying. IEM Summer 2021 is scheduled to start on June 3 and will run until June 13, featuring a steep 250.000 dollar prize pool.
