VALORANT’s tropical paradise of Breeze will not be available for play during Masters Reyjavik.
Riot Games’s VALORANT Champions Tour Twitter account announced on May 4th that their sixth and most recent addition to the game’s map pool, Breeze, will not be available for play in Masters Reykjavik. The new map set in a tropical paradise was originally set to make its competitive debut in Iceland. VCT officials have since gone back on this decision “in the interest of competitive integrity.”
After conferring with pro players globally, in the interest of competitive integrity, Breeze has been removed from the map rotation at Masters Reykjavik.
Considering the overlap with Challenger Playoffs and travel to Iceland, 4 weeks is not enough time to practice a new map.

The VCT’s announcement tweet cites both professional player’s opinions and the overlap with Challenger’s Finals as motivating factors. Certainly the competing teams would be pressed for time to practice this map, considering previous tournaments have not featured it in the pool, most would have no strategies in place. Also considering the time it may take teams to physically travel to Iceland for the Masters event, the potential time used to practice this map would already have been cut into.
After Breeze being announced, I decided to finally switch over to the Vandal
Transition is feeling great so far, feels great to be a Vandal player now 👊🏽#NoMore140hs#1Taps
Many have come in support of this decision by Riot to ensure the integrity of VALORANT’s first international competitive event. Though the reception by both fans and pros to Breeze has largely been positive, adding this map to the viable pool would present obvious problems. Various fans have cited the problem Icebox posed after it’s release, largely being used by smaller teams to upset the likes of Sentinels in open qualifiers, aware they did not have the map as down pat as others.
Though unfortunate that we will have to wait to see Breeze played by the pros until after Masters Reykjavik, it is still available to the public.
