magixx and degster to stay in quarantine during remainder of ESL Cologne

Despite testing negative when they arrived and being “in good condition”, both Boris “magixx” Vorobiev and Abdul “degster” Gasanov will have to play IEM Cologne from their hotel individual hotel rooms.

The other three members of Team Spirit did not come into contact with magixx and degster and can continue playing in the tournament area. The same goes for ESL Staff, where nobody came into contact with magixx and/or degster.

The duo came in close proximity on their flight to a passenger who tested positive for COVID.

Spirit already played their opening game in this fashion, losing a close game to Heroic. Now the CIS team will have to play the first round of Group B’s lower bracket with the same setup.

The German health authorities informed Team Spirit about the positive passenger, and following their event protocols, ESL has made the decision to keep the players in quarantine, despite testing negative.

The quarantine is in effect until July 19^th.
