xQc on Twitch’s new Stream Boost feature “This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard”

Twitch recently announced a divisive new feature, the Viewer Boost. This coming feature has been tested across small test groups of streamers, allowing viewers to pay actual money to put their favorite streamers on the recommended page. This is not the first time a ‘Boost’ feature has been added to Twitch. In the past, you were able to do the same but with channel points.

Recent reports have declared that actual monetary transactions were the original intention behind the program. Audiences and streamers have been critical of the new feature, to say the very least.

Some of Twitch’s stop streamers, such as Felix “xQc” Lengyl expressed his discontent regarding the new feature to an audience over 50K viewers. In discussing the topic, xQc described it as “the dumbest shit I have ever heard of” and equated the system as intentional viewbotting.

xQc is certainly not the only streamer or viewer critical of the boost feature. Ever since its announcement, the feature has been met with harsh push-back from streamers and viewers alike. Many have cited that it intends to turn Twitch into a ‘pay-to-win’ system and rewards streamers with money to spend.

There countless reasons why the boost feature is a poor decision set up to fail, however it seems that Twitch is still currently going through with the idea. Whether or not the opinions and thoughts of the platform’s streaming giants will sway Twitch’s decision making remains to be seen.
