CLG announced its entirely new five-man lineup set to start for the 2022 LCS Season via Twitter. The new roster includes Jenkins, Contractz, Palafox, Luger, and Poome. This full rebuild comes only days after CLG announced that it dropped every single member of its 2021 season.
In the toplane, CLG is bringing over Jenkins from Team Liquid. The Australian toplaner played on both Team Liquid’s Academy and LCS roster. Playing in Alphari’s absence, the substitute toplaner made a name for himself with some impressive games and has been rewarded with a starting role.
Contractz joins the team in the jungle. Evil Geniuses ran its 2021 Summer Split going between two junglers, Contractz and Svenskeren. Though playing relatively few games, Contractz managed to impress in several regular season games. This will be the NA jungler’s first time as a start since 2018.
Palafox is leaving FlyQuest after only one year of middling results. Heralded as a prodigy midlaner in Academy, Palafox has yet to see this level of success in the LCS. CLG is also transplanting the 100 Thieves Academy bottom lane duo of Luger and Poome into its squad. The two dominated the LCS Academy, though will now test themselves on the main stage.
CLG has suffered has recent iterations of the roster have brought the organization only middling results. Poor PR such as the Bud Light sponsored video wherein the team’s jobs were threatened have also painted a poor reputation for the legacy organization. Going into the next LCS season, CLG are looking for redemption in more than one way.
