Immortals have made some major business moves ahead of the 2022 LCS Spring Split. After moving to the Great Lakes region, Immortals have become the latest team to secure a massive sponsorship. Partnering with the insurance company Progressive, Immortals have given over naming rights to become Immortals Progressive.
Though set for an unspecified amount of time, Immortals Progressive have unveiled its new roster and jerseys for the 2022 LCS season. Inspired by the northern lights present in the Great Lakes region, the organization has maintained its signature teal and white color scheme despite its rebrand.
Several LCS teams have offered naming rights in return for significant injections of capital. TSM became the most notable example in 2021, as the team engaged in a 10 year sponsorship with FTX for $210 million. Similarly, Dignitas became known as Dignitas QNTMPAY during the 2021 LCS season.
As the entire LCS has now embraced an FTX sponsorship, it is clear that more teams and organizations are opening up to the potential of ground breaking deals. Though some teams, such as G2 Esports, have rebuffed the idea of giving away naming rights, organizations such as Immortals see it as clear progress for the team.
“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Immortals as the team’s LCS entitlement sponsor,” said Jay VanAntwerp, Progressive’s media business leader, “We’re excited to work with Immortals throughout the upcoming season to bring fans and members of the gaming community fun and engaging content from the players as well as activations and unique opportunities to interact with the team.”
