If you want a cheap Ligue 1 striker to get you going in Ultimate Team, Baldé will get you there. While he might not be the best playmaker, he’s a great option for budget counter-attacking teams using his blistering pace and surprising physical stats, despite standing at 176 cm. He’d function great in teams that like to lie back and wait for their opportunity, but needs enough defensive support and a good playmaker behind him. If you can slap a Hunter style chemistry card on him, he’s looking dangerous for a very fair price.
2. William Saliba (Marseille) – 700 Coins – CB
The Ligue 1 isn’t known for their tall, physical defenders, even though that’s quite often what Ultimate Team demands. If you want a cheap option, give Saliba a shot. His pace is more than serviceable while standing at 192 cm, giving many attackers trouble. He also has a Future Stars Card, but that might be a little out of your price range.
3. Hamari Traoré (Stade Rennais) – 1000 coins – RB
While most people will opt for someone like Achraf Hakimi or Youcef Atal at RB, for those who want a cheaper option, Hamari Traoré is a great choice. Boasting great physical stats, including pace, and a solid defensive rating, he’ll keep your wing safe for a fraction of the cost. He’s also still a solid option going forward, with a 79 crossing rating paired with serviceable dribbling stats..
4. Seko Fofana (RC Lens) – 700 Coins – CM
If you’re looking for an all-round midfielder but don’t have the cash yet to go after one of the major names, Seko Fofana is a great option. He’s proficient in basically all stats and can move backwards as well as forwards. His IRL performances have put him on the map as of late and he also has a POTM, in-form and headliners card, however those may be out of your price range.
5. Jeremy Doku (Stade Rennais) – 700 Coins – RW
There’s many options when it comes to wingers in Ligue 1, as the league seems to have a habit of producing a boatload of them. When it comes to budget gems, Doku is a great start. He comes cheap and while he’ll likely fulfill a more supporting role as he lacks an end product (namely in his shooting), his pace and dribbling should net you some scoring chances.
