Dota 2: TI-prize pool surpassed 7.5 million since release of battle pass

The battle pass for Dota 2 went live yesterday. A quarter of the proceeds directly goes to The International 10’s prize pool. It already surpassed 7.5 million dollars.

Many CS:GO players envy the Dota 2 community for being able to support their esport-scene. Preceding the annual “The International” (TI), Valve releases a battle pass for the game.

A quarter of all these proceeds directly benefit the TI prize pool. The event garners lots of medial attention every year for exactly that reason. 2019 alone TI had a prize pool of nearly 35 million dollars.

Why The International 10 will break records again

Due to the ongoing pandemic, TI will not take place in 2020. Still, there’s a battle pass that players can buy to unlock loads of cosmetics and similar items. What’s the reason behind it?

The current pass will benefit TI in 2021. The event next year will have an accumulated prize pool of both the battle passes this year and next year.

As many other game developers do, Valve offers different versions of the battle pass. The regular one will cost you about 10 bucks, while the version with 100 tiers unlocked will run you 45 dollars.
