Age of Empires IV players can rejoice. The first major update will arrive on live servers soon. With hundreds of balance changes and bug fixes it promises to be the patch the community has been asking for.
Last week’s Patch 7879 had been a disappointment for many fans, as it only contained a bandaid fix for the Mongol Town Center rush and not much else. Despite the multitude of bugs known, the developers seemed to be in no hurry to fix them. Shortly afterwards the roadmap alleviated some of those fears and also promised a major update in winter.
Said major update will now hit much sooner than expected and contains plenty of changes the players have been asking for. Here are a couple of the most important changes the developers already teased:
- Player scoes in custom games
- Chinese Dynasty button moved to be less obstrusive
- Ability to view the map after a match
- Mini-map readability
- Balance changes to French Ships, Cavalry vs. Spearman/Crossbowman balance & more
- Bugfixes for long-standing bugs like bugged HRE Prelates or the Rus Relic bug
While the devs have not said when in the next week they will launch the patch, players should get ready to develop new strategies as the meta is most likely going to change.
