Amazon Studios might be making a Mass Effect television series soon
After the success of series such as the Boys and The Wheel of Time, Amazon Studios is looking to explore more genre television series, and Mass Effect seems to be high on that list. According to a report by Deadline, Amazon Studios is nearing a deal with Electronic Arts for the rights to make a television series based on the popular franchise.
In an interview with Deadline the head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke talked about exploring new franchises and pushing the envelope on fantasy. “You will see us continuing to invest in fantasy genres of all kinds, we have a genre-focused team on the ground in Studios who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more.”
A television series made around Mass Effect is something that fans have been clamoring for and both EA and developer BioWare have dropped subtle hints that it might happen in the future. The project director for the Mass Effect remaster also told Business Insider that a television series would happen sooner or later. Others are hopeful that a possible series by Amazon might also mean that a new game in the franchise is coming alongside it.
