Despite abilities being a part of the dynamic in Apex Legends, gunfights are still the most important part of playing the free-to-play Battle Royale. Knowing where to land to maximize your weapon’s level is key to climbing the ranked ladder.
There’s nothing quite as annoying as landing somewhere and getting ammo, attachments, ultimate accelerants… Anything but a weapon. You get knocked, and not long after your team gets eliminated. Queue a new game.
In this article, I’ll give you my preferred landing spots for Kings Canyon that are big enough to share with another team and have loot that’s good enough to start fighting immediately.
Crash Site
Crash site was added in season 8, and it’s been amazing since I first landed there. It opened up a part of the map that was previously inaccessible, creating extra looting and escape routes. The area is big, has quite a lot of loot buildings, and of course the elevated plateaus surrounding the crashed ship that offer a ton of variety in the weapons you can equip.
Caustic Treatment
On the complete opposite side of the map, in the South corner of Kings Canyon, you have Caustic Treatment, previously known as Water Treatment. It’s a huge POI with multiple little pockets of loot and pills (the loot boxes) on the outside, and high-quality loot on the inside. You can find guns with golden attachments there, giving you a one-up over your opponents.
Crypto’s Map Room
Just to the east of Caustic Treatment, we find Crypto’s Map Room, originally added in the Lost Treasures event. While loot at this landing spot might be a bit lower quality, there’s still plenty to go around. What makes this an excellent drop spot, however, is the giant holographic map that you can activate to show everyone’s location on the map. A perfect tool to plan your next fight. Or avoid it altogether.
