While all eyes are now focused on the upcoming World First race, Blizzard has also announced their plans for World of Warcraft’s Esport.
2021 will see various adjustments to the current system to expand on the 2020 changes and build upon the foundations established.
Arena World Championship
The 2021 Arena World Championship (AWC) will be split into two seasons that culminate in a grand final in the fall. Over the year a total of $900,000 US-Dollar will be distributed to the participants.
The first season will feature the familiar open cups that open the pathway into the circuit for the best teams. But the finals will also offer another prize besides the money and the bragging rights. The top six teams will be seeded directly into the second season’s circuit and can avoid facing the relegation matches against up and comers.

Mythic Dungeon Invitational
The second part of World of Warcraft’s esport will be the return of the Mythic Dungeon Invitational. This edition will feature a global competition (with the exception of the Chinese region) to determine the best teams in two seperate seasons.
With a prize pool of $750,000 US-Dollar the competition will be fierce as the new dungeons await their challengers. The top eight time trial teams each week will qualify for the Cups in which they earn qualification points for the seasonal finals.
Blizzard will also introduce the Prideful affix for the first season. While it is active players will eventually form a Manifestation of Pride after defeating numerous non-boss enemies. If those players then proceed to defeat this Manifestation they will earn a buff that will open up new strategies.
