Cloud9 set to sign 3 LCK players to its 2022 League of Legends roster
Cloud are reportedly set to sign Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol, Park “Summit” Woo-tae, and Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon. The three will be starters in the ADC, toplane, and support roles respectively. The trio is set to replace Luka “Perkz” Perkovic, Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, and Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme.
Along with this move, Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami will make a roleswap to the middle lane to make room for Summit. Summit is coming from the starting roster of Liiv SANDBOX while Berserker and Winsome depart from the T1 Academy roster. Winsome will not take up an import slot as he was born in the United States and lived in the country for several years.
Despite the plethora of veteran LCK talent and the past success of the 2021 roster, the team has decided to go in a radically different direction. The team seemingly considered Park “Teddy” Jin-seong was originally considered however Cloud9 decided to go with promising rookies.
Though the former Oceanic support Jonah “Isles” Rosario is set to compete for the starting support position, Winsome will start alongside Berserker. This initial start will facilitate communication in the duo lane and utilize their previous synergy from T1. With Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin remaining as a coach, C9 will have four Korean speaking players.
The team is also reportedly interested in picking up Nick “LS” De Cesare as its head coach. LS has spent several years in South Korea and has previously coaching experience. This deal has not yet been made, but his affiliation with the LCK players and Fudge certainly lends to the probably of this happening.
