Confirmed: Chaos Esports Club exit CS:GO, Rainbow Six
After a lot of rumors regarding a possible CS:GO exit for Chaos Esports Club, the organization has now announced they’ll be releasing their roster and will exit the competitive CS:GO scene. In their statement they also announced they’ll be parting ways with their current Rainbow Six roster and are trying to find a new home for them.
According to Chaos the main reason for their CS:GO exit lies in the changing CS:GO landscape following the current COVID-19 pandemic. “As the year continued it became clear that in-person entertainment was not going to be viable and esports events and tournaments were going to experience massive change. This would have far reaching impacts throughout the ecosystem, particularly on sponsor value, removing a large portion of revenue that esports teams need to stay competitive and effectively support their players.”
Due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, our ability to support our rosters and incredible players behind them has reached its limit.
Chaos Esports Club is currently competing in the DreamHack Masters Winter NA and is believed to close out their final tournament at the IEM Global Challenge from 15 to 20 December. It’s currently unclear what will happen to the roster. They may very well be picked up by another organization.
When looking towards the future, the organization seems to double down on content creation. “As an organization we will be accelerating our shift to focus on supporting more content creators both in and outside of gaming. We are excited to share what we have in store with you all soon.“ They do admit however this shift won’t happen overnight.
