Dev1ce will miss BLAST Premier World Finals due to health issues
The Ninjas In Pyjamas roster gave a roster update ahead of BLAST Premier World Finals, stating that Phzy will once again fill in for Dev1ce in the starting lineup. The Danish superstar only recently signed to NiP was forced to miss out on ESL Winter 2021 due to health issues. Dev1ce will continue to rest for the BLAST World Final per doctor’s orders.
The #BLASTPremier World Final is going to be a glorious end to the 2021 season and we're proud to have made it. Everyone at NIP has been giving it its all during the year, and soon we'll sit back and take stock of how far we've come. (1/4) pic.twitter.com/KdT447JMBT
In the Twitter thread, NiP staff confirmed “Dev1ce is taking the time he needs to recover, meaning Phzy is coming back onto the big stage for the BLAST Premier final.” Alongside a player substitution, Jonas Gundersen will re-join the squad as the interim head coach. The team concluded that they are optimistically looking forward to the BLAST World Final as the last event of 2021.
This will be Phzy’s second tournament with the squad. After Dev1ce fell ill midway through IEM Winter 2021, Phzy was apart of the squad that took down G2 Esports to advance to the grand finals. Though ultimately losing in a sweep to Team Vitality, the squad with Phzy had some strong performances. With more time to mesh, Ninjas In Pyjamas may put together a strong run.
The 26-year-old Dev1ce began having health issues earlier last week. Though it is unspecified what exactly these complications are, it has been enough to leave him on the bench for two major events now. Missing out on the final event of the year, we will hopefully get to see Dev1ce play again in 2022.
