Dignitas upset 100 Thieves in LCS Lock-In Quarter Finals
The LCS Lock-In plays have commenced and already brought the biggest upset of the year so far. The defending LCS Champions, 100 Thieves, lost to Dignitas in a clean sweep. Few could have predicted the sudden fall from grace, as 100T ran back the very same roster that initially granted them the organization’s first title.
Though Team Liquid cruised to Quarter-Finals with ease, Dignitas will look to poise a second upset in the tournament.
The Dark Horse Dignitas
Dignitas has only played with its full roster for two days, as River only landed in the United States mere days ago. Still, the jungler was clearly the difference maker for the roster, as River had an incredible impact on the series. The primary win condition in both games, River enabled all three of his lanes in a dominant game three.
The surging ADC Neo also had a significant impact on the series, showing incredibly fight prowess in disadvantaged situation. While many considered Dignitas a passive squad bound to finish in the bottom tier of the LCS, the team showed that they have clear potential.
Is Team Liquid the next team to be upset?
Dignitas will move on to face Team Liquid, likely a more competent foe than 100 Thieves. Team Liquid have been a difficult team to plan against, as the squad’s rotating roster of players has shown little weakness. Even in their most recent series against FlyQuest, TL’s Academy toplaner, Bradley, had an incredible showing on Akali.
It seems no matter who TL put in the starting lineup, the entire squad shines. Dignitas will need tocall upon the the same cohesion that won them their first upset for their next challenge.
