The Chinese region has always been famous for its depth and competitiveness. But even then Team Elephant’s failure to qualify for Singapore still comes as a shock.
With legendary players like Xu “fy” Linsen and Lu “Somnus” Yao at the helm, Team Elephant was supposed to be a shoe-in for the Major. But reality had other plans. Far from cruising through the opposition, Elephant struggled throughout the season. With only a 4-3 record to show for at the end, they had one final tiebreaker shot against PSG.LGD.
Alas Elephant faltered again and were unable to show their starpower. In quick and convincing fashion PSG.LGD took them apart 2-0, dashing their plans for Singapore.
The stars from Elephant join other prominent non-attendees at Singapore like OG or TnC from other regions.
PSG.LGD secured the final Chinese slot for the Major and is joined by the surprises from the open qualifiers Invictus Gaming and Team Aster as well as Vici Gaming, who qualified as third of the regular season.
