Dota 2: Universe Retires

Another TI5-Champion has announced his retirement from active competition in Dota 2. Saahil “Universe” Arora has followed his former captain Peter “ppd” Dager and also decided to end his active career.

Just days after ppd hung up his mouse another Champion from 2015 ends his career. During his career Universe won countless tournaments, played in eight out of nine Internationals and has earned over three million US-Dollar in prize money. Forever immortalised for his part in the “Six Million Dollar Echo Slam” Universe is a household name familiar to every Dota 2 fan.

A Decade of Dota 2

Universe has been part of the highest level of competition for the majority of his ten year stint in the scene. Although he is most firmly linked with Evil Geniuses for their TI5-Championship, he has been part of numerous teams in the past: Quantic Gaming, Dignitas, Team Secret, Fnatic, Forward Gaming to name a couple before now concluding his career after being let go earlier in April by Ninjas in Pyjamas.

His decision to not search for another team might be surprising to us, but in his statement he said:

“For the past 10 years I have given everything I have to this game/competition and it was an incredible experience. Now the time has come to pursue other interests and figure out what comes next. Thank you to my fans and past teammates for the amazing memories I will never forget.”

Although Universe has left the competitive scene his impact will remain as many of the builds he pioneered and the ways to manipulate lanes still remain in Dota 2.
