Everything you need to know about Dragon’s Blood – Trailer, Release & more

Valve and Netflix have announced a brand new project in the lore of the Dota world. Dota: Dragon’s Blood will premier on March 25 on Netflix. Here is what you need to know.

Trailer

The main trailer was revealed on March 2:

Together with plenty of additional promotional material such as posters and more. It also featured a hidden teaser with Terrorblade in QR codes for the community to find:

On February 19 we got a teaser trailer that you can find below:

Production and Cast

The series will be produced by the South Korean Studio Mir, who in the past had also produced Avatar: The Legend of Korra, the sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender.

An excerpt from the cast list has also been published on Twitter:

With several high-profile names like Yuri Lowenthal and Troy Baker, fans are in for a treat. Tony Todd is naturally also part of the cast and players are already eager to hear his familiar “Who calls the Dragon Knight?” from the game to ring out during the series.

The series will also be dubbed and subbed in multiple languages for the global Dota 2 community with a total of 12 dubs and 30 subbed language releases.

Dragon’s Blood’s Animatic Editor Robert Meyer Burnett also revealed that the show has been in development for several years already and will feature a runtime of 22 minutes per episode.

Plot

After the main trailer the story seems focused on two main aspects. Davion, the Dragon Knight’s struggles in his conflict with Dragons and Mirana, the Princess of the Moon’s quest to retrieve the stolen Lotuses of Selemene. The Moon Goddess also features prominently in the trailer and it seems that many open lore questions regarding her will be revealed. Another lore figure whose background will be explored is Kaden, one of the mentors of Davion in the Dragon Knight order. In terms of heroes Invoker seems to play an integral part, while we also see Luna rallying the troops of Selemene’s temple and leading them to war.

How exactly Terrorblade will feature into the equation is still unclear, but there is plenty of mysteries for us to see once the series starts in March 25. For new and returning fans Netflix has now also released a Lore Summary of the Dota 2 world featuring SirActionSlacks, Sheever and ODPixel from the scene. If you need a refresher or a primer on the setting, look no further:
