EG Bot laner Danny chosen as Rookie of the Year 2021 in LCS

Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki was chosen as Rookie of the Year by the LCS broadcast team, the pro teams themselves and third party media after a solid Summer Split which saw him help to turn around an inconsistent Evil Geniuses team, bringing some more stability and playmaking to the bot lane. As Deftly left the starting line-up and Danny came in, Evil Geniuses are now making a case to become one of the best teams in the LCS.

With Danny in the bot lane Evil Geniuses ended the 2021 Summer Split regular season with a solid 18-9 record, outperforming themselves in regards to their Spring Split. With other players such as veteran mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro and Jeong “Impact” Eon-young stepping up, Evil Geniuses have turned things around. The bot lane partnership between Danny and Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun has also been very fruitful.

In our interview with Danny, he explained what makes him and Evil Geniuses so successful. “I think we have a lot of aggression and we don’t care as much as other teams do. Safety is obviously one of my concerns but I’m also very down to just flip it and go in. I think our aggression is similar to that of some LPL teams and with that we can take over games faster than other teams who are just playing to scale.“
