Elden Ring – The 5 Best Incantations in the Game

Sorceries are not the only options for spellcasters in Elden Ring. Incantations are a great option with additional versatility as they can also heal or buff your character besides dealing damage. Here are the 5 best Incantations in Elden Ring.

The Flame of Frenzy

This Incantation deals massive damage to enemies, but also causes the Madness debuff on your character.  So make sure to not overtax your character and keep an eye on the Madness bar to prevent losing FP and taking damage.

  • Faith: 16
  • FP Costs: 16
  • Slots used: 1

Additionally the Flame of Frenzy can be found early on in the game and does not have too difficult requirements. You can find it on the Weeping Peninsula of Limgrave in the Callu Baptismal Church

Rotten Breath

Rotten Breath’s main strength is the additional debuff the Incantation causes on enemies. Inflicting Scarlet Rot on unsuspecting opponents causes a large amounts of damage over time on them. Downside of Rotten Breath is the high Arcane stat it requires on top of Faith.

  • Faith: 15
  • Arcane: 12
  • FP Costs: 36
  • Slots used: 1

The Incantation turns your character’s head into a dragonhead and spews forth the deadly breath in front of you. You can get it by trading in a Dragon Heart at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in the south of Caelid.

Elden Stars

A legendary Incantation which launches explosive  projectiles at opponents for massive amounts of AoE damage. But it has high FP costs and requires a high Faith stat.

  • Faith: 50
  • FP Costs: 47
  • Slots used: 2

Elden Stars continously launches stars at opponents, that even chase them. During all this players are not animation locked, so they can move and attack at the same time. You can find the Incantation near the Site of Grace “Great Waterfall Crest” in Deeproot Depths. Head west from it until you come across roots on the ground, find one leading up to a cave and clear it out. You will find the Incantation at the end of the cave.

Placidusax’s Ruin

Placidusax’s Ruin is an Incantation that deals very well with large numbers of enemies as you call forth a dragon breath to burn it all down. Downsides of it are the three used slots and the high FP costs.

  • Faith: 36
  • FP Costs: 80
  • Slots used: 3

The massive AoE is not the only strenght of Placidusax’s Ruin as it also has quite the impressive range. You can even turn the attack into a ring of damage around you. You can get the Incantation by trading in the Remembrance of the Dragonlord Placisdusax (which drops from the Dragonlord) with Enia at the Roundtable Hold.

Fortissax’s Lightning Spear

Fortissax’s Lightning Spear eliminates opponents with strong lightning attacks as you call down two lightning strikes. While it has high FP costs, it only occupies with slot.

  • Faith: 46
  • FP Costs: 64
  • Slots used:1

The two lightning strikes also cause AoE damage around them, making the Incantation useful for ranged fights as well. You can acquire the Incantation after defeating Lichdragon Fortissax by trading in his Remembrance with Enia at Roundtable Hold.
