Cloud9 find their first win while Gambit maintains their lead
Furia and Gambit continue to stand tall over Group C while Cloud9 and Navi struggle in the standings.
In the CIS match-up between Navi and Gambit, Gambit ultimately came out on top 2-1. In an incredibly competitive overtime first map, Abay “Hobbit” Khasenov and Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov propelled their team’s 5 round win streak to extend the match into overtime. Denis “electronic” Sharipov ultimately pushed his team to their 22-19 victory, ending with 35 total frags.
Gambit fired back by taking both of the next games in a similar 11-16 fashion. On Mirage, Gambit fought back from a 9-1 deficit and took 15 round across the two halves, dropping only 2. Overpass proved to be a close affiar, but once again Hobbit was the difference maker as he finished the series with 79 total frags and 90.2 ADR.
1-2 @GambitEsports well played Sounds like an excuse, but my physical condition is terrible for the last 2 days, I will try to restore my body for the next games#ESLProLeague#navination
Struggling to find their footing in the standings, Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev cited health issues as the reason behind his lackluster play.
In the next series of the day, Cloud9 found their first win over TeamOne. Winning in a tight contest on map 1, Train, William “mezii” Merriman once again proved vital for C9 roster. The following map, Overpass, saw TeamOne equalize the series off the heroics of Matheus “prt” Scuvero who ended with 22 frags and 101 damage on the map.
One of Cloud9’s newest additions, ex-Chaos rifler Erick “Xeppaa” Bach, had one of his best performances of his short career. Lead Cloud9’s dominance on Nuke, Xeppaa heralded 71 total kills and 100 damage across all three maps. Now in third place on uneasy group, Xeppaa will need to recreate this performance if C9 hope to keep their playoff dreams alive.
In final series of the day, Furia handedly defeated MIBR. Winning 16-8 on both Overpass and Inferno Andrei “arT” Piovezan had a masterclass overall performance and has continued to be one of Furia’s shining spots in the tournament so far.
