ESL Pro League Season 13: Heroic remain undefeated, BIG get their first win

Day three of the ESL group stage saw the competition in Group A tighten

Day three of the ESL Pro League started with OG getting their second win in the group stage over Renegades. In a close game one on Inferno, OG pulled away with the victory (12-16). ISSAA found some amount of redemption in this map given the recent criticisms of his play, finishing with 31 kills and an 89% KAST. The series decider on Nuke was far more decisive in OG’s favor, finishing 6-16. Only dropping to Complexity so far, this new iteration of OG has found relative success while Renegades are still hunting for their first win.

The second series of the day saw a more competitive matchup between Funplus Phoenix and Heroic. Funplus Phoenix entered the game with an even 1-1 record however now find themselves below .500 after Heroic swept the series. Heroic’s recent changes already seem to be paying off as the team fired on all cylinders. Refrezh, one of the new additions from MAD Lions, led the charge for Heroic as he found 44 kills across two maps. Funplus Phoenix will have to rebound tomorrow against the recovering BIG roster if they hope to keep their group stage dreams alive.

Recently on the downward trend, BIG got their first win of the event against Complexity during the last series of the day. K1to had an incredible performance, making up 31% of his teams kill share and ending with 61 total frags. Complexity managed to keep up in game one on Mirage (16-12), but after taking Complexity’s own map pick, BIG proceeded to end the series in a much more cohesive match on Dust2.

After handing Complexity their first loss, we will see if BIG can maintain this momentum going into their series against FPX tomorrow.
