A day of upsets, as G2 and FaZe fall the standings in Group B shake up.
Despite their excellent performance against Vitality yesterday that ultimately resulted in a 2-1 loss, FaZe was met again with defeat as NIP won 2-0. As it seems to be the trend with FaZe so far in their group stage, the international roster kept both maps close while ultimately failing to close them out. Once again coming through for NIP, Nicolas “Plopski” Zamora was far and away the MVP for the Swedes as he finished with 45 frags.
Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken put up a fight for FaZe, however today’s performance was a far cry from their performance which threatened historically one of Counter-Strikes’ best rosters. Now 1-2, it is seemingly more likely that NIP takes FaZe place in the top half of this group.
After knocking out Vitality and standing 2-0 over group B, G2 was subsequently taken down by ENCE. Making a statement on Train by winning 16-5, Lotan “Spinx” Giladi had his best performance in a tournament he has actively excelled in, finding 29 kills and dealing an astonishing 125 kills on the map.
While G2 fired back on Mirage (6-16), they could not sustain this success seen from Nemanja “huNter-” Kovac. Nuke saw a back and forth series quite different from the first two blowout games going to both sides, though ultimately Spinx once again could not be stopped and pushed ENCE to 2-1 with a 16-10 finish.
Vitality rebounded after their loss to G2 yesterday by sweeping mousesports 2-0. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Richard “shox” Papillon propelled the French roster across their two maps and kept mousesports from finding their first win. G2, NIP, Vitality, ENCE, and FaZe are now all tied at 2-1. Tomorrow’s games will be incredibly important for determining the leaders of this hotly contested group.
