Warzone, Far-Right movements and the Ukraine Conflict, how are these three connected? What seems far-fetched at first glance does have a link on closer inspection.
The responsible party for that is the Chimera Pack. It includes three operator skins, a watch, a card and an animated emblem. That emblem is the root of the issue. It shows a batlike shape in front of a runic symbol.
It is exactly that symbol which is used in inverted colors by the Ukrainian “Azov Battalion”. A national guard regiment that gained notoriety for alleged war crimes, torture and Neo-Nazi sympathies. Its emblem also utilizes the Wolfsangel, a symbol that was also used by the German Nazi regime in the past.
Wolfsangel explained
The resemblance between the two symbols is apparent as only the colors are inverted. While the Wolfsangel itself has also been used in historic coat of arms the stylized way it is displayed in those symbols has direct parallels to the usage during World War 2 by German SS regiments.
While the symbol itself is not banned, the usage in Warzone is at least questionable. Especially considering the removal of the “OK” sign, just because far-right groups have been using it for their own ends.
