FaZe Clan and Copenhagen Flames are the first teams to qualify for the PGL Stockholm Champions Stage
Day two of the PGL Stockholm Major saw a significant standings shake-up. While MOUZ fell out of the Champions cutoff, Astralis managed to recover from a horrid day one. FaZe and Copenhagen Flames maintained their spots at the top, still undefeated at 3-0 each. While the Challengers stage is not yet over, the performances from these teams have impressed.
FaZe Clan topple Virtus.pro, but can they stay on top?
FaZe had a rough road to PGL Stockholm Major, almost failing to qualify for the event. Now that they have officially entered the tournament and switched around their roster, FaZe seem to be hitting their stride.
In their game against Virtus.pro, Twistzz had a signature pop off performance. In FaZe’s 2-0 win, Twistzz found 48 kills and 93.2 ADR. Alongside this, the previously benched Olofmeister showed why he was pulled back into the active roster, pulling a 84.6% KAST.
This game was especially impressive given Virtus.pro’s breakout year. The CIS squad has consistently competed at the top all year, however FaZe easily seemed to take them down. Things certainly bode well for FaZe as they have locked in their spot at the main event.
Are Copenhagen Flames the best team in Denmark?
The Copenhagen Flames have already made their mark this Major, taking down domestic rivals in Astralis and Heroic. Defending their undefeated title, CHFL beat out Heroic 2-1. Former MAD Lions’ star, roeJ, found 58 kills across 3 maps and beat out his two former teammates in Sjuush and Refrezh.
With this win, the Flames have qualified for the Champions stage and will get a chance to play against some of the best teams in the world. Though they dominated in Challengers, they will have a significantly harder time in the coming stage.
