G2 Carlos explains why he didn’t want to sell Perkz to Fnatic
G2 Esports founder and CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez spoke about not allowing Luka “Perkz” Perković to leave for Fnatic during his appearance on the Crack Down. He discussed his reasoning from a business perspective and in regards to his personal relationship with Perkz.
World Class team
Rodriguez talked at length about his move to not sell Perkz to Fnatic and how he came to the decision. “Imagine Perkz would have ended up with Fnatic. What happens right after is that all of Fnatic renews (their contracts). Is that what I want? No. Because I want to have all my options open. You’re incredibly naive if you think you can build a world class team that can fight for trophies by letting everybody screw you.”
He went on to talk about the business side of the offseason and how a top team has to compete with the other top teams in every way possible. “To build a business I need to give my sponsors and investors security that my organization is the number 1. That not only can I win, but I can market products. For all of that to be there I can’t just let my biggest competitor (Fnatic) get the better of me. … If I can’t, within the rules available to me, play the game, then why am I doing this?”
Luka is one of my closest friends and vice versa.
Anybody thinking we would fuck each other up for a video game is out of their fucking mind.
As I’ve been telling you for fucking 15 years, have some goddamn patience and don’t jump the gun you animals.
