G2 Esports shakes up VALORANT roster, bench Davidp

When it comes to VALORANT, G2 Esports already has its fair share of successes under its belt. Now the organization decided to go a different way and is overhauling their team. This means David “Davidp” Prins will be moved to the inactive team while G2 Esports looks to add some fresh blood to the active roster.

The move is somewhat surprising as G2 Esports has looked like one of the best teams in the VALORANT scene, only recently struggling a little as they finished in third place during First Strike, losing to Heretics. That third place is cited as the main reason for the roster shakeup as G2 Esports looks for solutions.

Davidp only signed for G2 Esports in June following some strong performances as a (then) temporary stand-in during tournaments such as the WePlay! Invitational. He reacted to being benched on Twitter and thanked the organization for his time there. “The team needs a proper IGL and I respect their choice. I’ve done everything I could to make it work with them. I tried to be the IGL because we didn’t have one and to play all possible agents to suit the team.”

He would go on to announce that he’s looking to join another VALORANT team in the future. “I’m still under contract with G2 but I can explore options and I am open about EU and NA offers.“ Chances are we’ll see him competing in another team soon.
