Gambit Esports and NaVi qualify for DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 Playoffs

As the matches in the upper bracket of group A played out, Gambit Esports and NaVi already secured themselves a spot in the next round by reaching the upper bracket final.

Things started off well for Gambit Esports against Team Fiend with a convincing 16-5 blowout on Dust II, led by an amazing performance by Abay “Hobbit” Khasenov. They would go on to face team-in-form G2 Esports next and picked up a win on Mirage (16-8) before falling on Train after a closely contested match (13-16). In the end they once again dominated on Dust II and sent G2 Esports to the lower bracket after a 16-4 win.

Natus Vincere had more issues in their first match however, only beating out a tough mousesports squad with 16-14 through a dominant showing by Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev. Their match against Virtus.Pro was a lot less close, as the CIS team breezed to a 2-0 victory after wins on Dust II and Inferno, ensuring themselves of a playoff spot and a chance to enter playoffs in semi-finals depending on the result of their match against Gambit.

In the lower bracket Virtus.pro will be taking on Team Spirit, while G2 Esports has a second chance against mousesports. Only one of these four teams will get to move on to the playoffs.
