After the revival of the God of War franchise, fans have anticipated the follow up which is finally coming nearly three years later. After being initially pushed back from its original release window in 2021, fans can expect God Of War Ragnarok to launch some time in 2022.
God of War release date and PC Port
Though unconfirmed, a leak from the Playstation Network alleges that God of War Ragnarok will be released on September 30th, 2022. Formerly a Playstation exclusive, the recent 2018 God of War received a PC port. While it is heavily believed that God of War Ragnarok will only be released on Playstation the day of launch, it is incredibly likely that the game will also be available on PC in the future.
Concluded the new saga
God of War’s brave new look took Kratos out of the Greek mythology and into the norse. The previous game ended with plenty of questions for players, as the beginning of Fimbulwinter marked the beginning of the Nordic apocalypse. Alongside this, Atreus’ identity as the god of mischief, Loki, was revealed.
Creative director Cory Barlog announced that Ragnarok will conclude the norse saga. The long development between both games were cited as a reason why the series will not extend to a third game under the norse theme. Whether this means the franchise will be put to rest or if Kratos will slaughter his way through a new pantheon is currently unknown.
