HUNDEN claims Heroic players knew about the coach spectator bug

Former Heroic coach, Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen was banned for exploiting a spectator bug back in May 2020, during Dreamhack Malmo. HUNDEN has already served eight months out of his twelve month ban, though is likely to receive a further two year ban from ESIC. This hefty punishment comes from the use of an unauthorized coach spectator bug that allowed him to view key strategic areas of the map and rely otherwise unknown information to his team.

In his original response, HUNDEN made it clear that he acted alone and took full responsibility for his actions. As HUNDEN is looking down the barrel of a much more damning ban from ESIC, he has begun to share his side of the story. In his most recent interview, HUNDEN has redacted parts of his original claim. Now, HUNDEN claims that several players were aware of the bug and the active use of the glitch to gain information in the tournament.

In his interview with Danish television network TV2.dk, HUNDEN alleged that some players knew, but has not revealed who specifically were aware. Instead, HUNDEN is leaving it up to the supposed players to come out. Currently, HUNDEN is continuing to serve out his time, though the threat of further punishment is constantly looming. HUNDEN also claimed that his at risk of a five year ban from the side of Heroic.

Whether or not the investigation will reopen remains to be seen, as it will likely require a player to come out and speak. It is also unknown if HUNDEN’s cooperation could have any effect over his future as a coach.
