Judging from recent Tweets Cloud 9 might be entering the Call of Duty League next.
Not only did the official Twitter post this suspiciously well-timed post at the end of the CDL season, they even got into the post-season roster shuffle. As Call of Duty legend Ian “Crimsix” Porter announced free agency for the year Cloud 9’s owner Jack Etienne jumped in.
While this could just be expert level trolling from Cloud 9 there are several signs that make an entry into the CDL possible.
Cloud 9 to buy Dallas Empire’s or Paris Legion’s slot?
It is looking likely that there will be several vacancies in the Call of Duty League for Cloud 9 to take advantage of. Besides the reports of Dallas Empire looking for a buyer of their slot another franchise is apparently headed for the exit. Paris Legion, who recently released their entire roster after a disappointing last place finish in the season, has abandoned their trademark.
While there are no reports about an impending sale, chances for a change in ownership are high. However Cloud 9 are not the only org to have shown teasers or interest in the Call of Duty League. eUnited has also been linked to a potential entry to the CDL.
In the absence of official announcements these rumours are to be taken with a grain of salt. We will keep you updated in case of further developments.
