Lost Ark – 5 Beginner mistakes you definitely want to avoid

1. Do not forget your daily tasks

With the amount of content that Lost Ark offers it is no surprise if players feel overhelmed. However you should not skip your daily tasks. As soon as you reach level 50 you will unlock Una’s Tasks which can be opened by default with Alt+J.

Prioritize the quests which reward you with honing materials like Shards and Leapstones. An example for that would be the daily quest in Peyto which rewards you with 8 Leapstones upon completion. In addition you should always do your Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids and at least one event. Those events vary each day offering a Chaos Gate or Field Boss.

You should complete these dailies:

  • 3x Quests from Una’s Tasks
  • 2x Chaos Dungeons
  • 2x Guardian Raids
  • 1x Event (like Field Bosses or the Twisting Phantom Legion: Chaos Gates)

2. Do not neglect your stronghold

If you have not paid attention to the housing system yet, you should certainly take a closer look at it. Your stronghold can provide you with many useful buffs like a 20 % increase in the honing chance of your alternative characters (alts).

But such buffs will only apply if you have researched them in the lab tab. Managing the house is quite easy. You simply have to treat the housing system like a mobile game. Similar to Clash of Clans or other games you can upgrade your buildings, which will provide permanent buffs to your entire roster.

3. Do not waste your materials

If you are level 50 and have access to the endgame you will probably spend your time honing your equipment and farming better gear. A big mistake you can make is wasting your materials since those are limited.

You can obtain those honing materials through various in-game activities such as Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids and island quests. However, the latter ones are limited to a single character on your roster.

To get the most out of your materials you should not use the additional materials like Star’s Breath early on. In this case it does not matter if you are tier 1 or tier 3 because the honing chance will decrease drastically the higher you hone your gear. At +14 you will only have a chance of 40% to hone the item to +15. Since the Breaths are very limited it is recommended to only use them for this last step since it will take the most materials.

4. Do not buy useless stuff on the auction house

This tipp sounds self-explanatory but there is more to it. If you want to purchase items off the market place and auction house you have to pay fees. This additional cost is paid with Pheons.

Those blue coins can be earned through the login event right now, but will become much rarer later on as the only way to obtain them otherwise is through the cash shop with blue crystals. Although you can obtain blue crystals by exchanging your gold for them at a vendor, it is still an additional cost you have to consider. Because of that it is not really worth it to buy items such as honing materials through the market place. Instead, you should rather look out for Mari’s shop in the cash shop and trade your gold for blue crystals beforehand.

5. Enjoy the game

Our last tip is by far the most important one. If this is your first playthrough of Lost Ark you should take your time to enjoy the game. There is no reason to skip the story quests and rush to tier 3. If you skip the cutscenes you will miss out big parts of the story. While it is a bit cliche it certainly is a good story.

Many guides will recommend you to skip the side quests if you want to progress to level 50 as fast as possible. While this is true you will miss out on a bit of silver and a lot of virtue points like wisdom, courage and charisma. Those virtues are very valuable in lategame giving you different conversation options with NPCs. Those virtues are very important for building rapport, the relationship system in the game. If you skip too many side quests you will find yourself catching up on them later on.

Rushing to tier 3 will not give you that many benefits except having access to the hardest content earlier. Altought you can make more gold by doing them you also have to spend more gold on your equipment. If you hope to get a competetive edge by having better gear we also have to disappoint you. The PvP arena fights ignore your level and items making the proving grounds a fair fighting ground for each player.

For that reason you should just take your time in exploring the world of Arkesia and enjoying the game at your own pace.
