New tank item, Anathema’s Chains, introduced to League of Legends PBE
Patch 11.13 will bring the new, toplane intended item, into live servers.
Riot Games have announced that they will be adding a new item to League of Legends, Anathema’s Chains. This item was teased weeks ago by Riot Games Lead Game Designer, Jeevun Sidhu. More recently though, the item has been released on the League of Legends PBE.

The item stats have remained relatively untouched since it’s inception. Anathema’s Chains gives 650 health to it’s user and 20 ability haste. The item has an active ability, deemed Vow, allowing the user to choice a Nemesis and start building a Vendetta. A Vendetta can take up to 30% reduced damage from your Nemesis, with 1% damage reduction coming per Vendetta Stack.
Vengeance is another feature of the item, reducing your Nemesis’ Tenacity 20% while they are near you. The only caveat of the items is that you cannot re-select your nemesis when in combat. When changing your nemesis, you also loss all the vendetta stacks you previously had gained.
Despite the drawbacks, this allows laners to initially select their lane opponent to obtain these slight advantages, but then change who gets the relative debuff in the mid and late game. The legendary item’s current cost stands at 2,500 gold and can build from Kindlegem and Giant’s Belt.
The new tank item on PBE (Anathema's Chains) has at least two sharp outputs:
-Anti split push. -Counter single-threat teams.
We know it's powerful at stuffing a fed carry. That's definitely the idea! It's not intended to be restricted to a sidelaning context.
The item is projected to be released with Patch 11.13, which will also bring about massive changes to AP mythic items and rework both Tahm Kench and Lucien. Whether or not this item will remain in its exact state remains to be see after its time on the PBE.
