An issue that has plagued Amazon’s new MMORPG, New World, are long queue times with absurd waits. Players have waited hours in queue just to find a bugs that send them to the back of the line once again. It is no surprise that players who managed to get into a densely populated server want to stay in, even if they aren’t actually playing. AFK players have essentially clogged up queue times further, not letting active players enter serves.
Community manager for New World, HardcoreHenry, updated players that the team intends to crack down on the AFK players problem. Though the team did not go into detail on how this new kick system will work, New World developers assured that the problem will be addressed.
Many have attempted to get around AFK kicks by auto-running into walls or setting up time-based macros to perform select actions to keep them in the server. These players will soon find out that these minimal actions will not be able to keep them in servers. Repeat offenders kicked off for non-activity will supposedly enact harsher punishments. Though this part of the updates was not elaborated upon, it is heavily implied that bans could follow.
The new AFK dection system will not be put in place immediately. Players locked in long queue times however can look forward to one road block being eliminated at least.
