Ninjas In Pyjamas clinch finals spot at IEM Winter 2021 after tight win against G2 Esports

Ninjas In Pyjamas are set to make at finals appearance at IEM Winter 2021 after a highly contested game against G2 Esports. Hopes were not high for the Swedish team entering the Semi-Finals, as its star AWPer, Device, was subbed out due to illness. Even with a substitute in, NiP managed to edge out a win through two close wins.

The finals for IEM Winter are now set, as NiP will face off against Team Vitality. Though the roster for this final match up is not set, NiP will get a shot at its first finals win since undergo a roster overhaul.

NiP hands G2 Esports a heartbreaking loss

NiP led off the series with a close win (19-16) on its map pick, Nuke. While Niko had a strong start that found G2 an early lead, the second half of the map saw NiP excel on CT-side. The substitute, Phzy, had an impeccable performance, finding 25 total frags.

G2 struck back on Dust2 in the most convincing game of the series (16-10). The brotherly duo of Hunter and Niko topped the charts in both frags and overall ratings, leading to a 12-3 lead at the half. NiP managed to cut this massive lead down in a respectable T-side showing, though the game was quickly ended by G2.

The decider map, Inferno, fell to the side of NiP (14-16). Though once again Hunter led a hot start for G2, their lead eventually fizzled out. Without one player truly performing above the rest, a concerted effort from NiP saw the squad claim the final game. Ninjas In Pyjamas will now face off against Team Vitality in the final clash of IEM Winter 2021.
