Esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas have made a big decision regarding their CS:GO roster, as they’ve announced they’ll be moving Simon “Twist” Eliasson to the bench.
Ninjas in Pyjamas released a statement on the situation alongside the announcement, offering more of an explanation for their decision, citing bad results. “We’ve been unable to release the massive potential and energy in our team and over time energy like that ends up becoming a negative spiral. […] New, positive and fresh energy is needed and thus we ended up at changes in both roster and backroom staff. We want to thank Simon for his incredible work ethic and everything he has done for this team.”
The decision comes after a mediocre showing from Ninjas in Pyjamas at cs_summit 7 as they ended up being eliminated in the quarterfinals. Recently, the roster has slumped and victories are few and far between. To fill the void left by Twist, Ninjas in Pyjamas looks to promote Erik “ztr” Gustafsson from their academy roster who’ll get a trial by fire in the BLAST Premier Spring Group stage. There Ninjas in Pyjamas face off against Astralis.
Twist himself took to Twitter to share his feelings on the decision and explained he’s looking for new opportunities. “I would like to thank Ninjas in Pyjamas for the time and all my former teammates, going to miss you a lot! For those wondering about the future, I’m still hungry to play and will continue to do so and chase my goals in Counter-Strike.”
