No green card for CoreJJ yet -Team Liquid has to alter starting roster

CoreJJ not securing his green card yet is a big issue for Team Liquid, who have built around the veteran support for the upcoming season. It might have repercussions on the starting line-up of Liquid, who heavily invested in overseas talent and will thus be using a lot of imports. If the issue with CoreJJ persists, they’ll have to make changes to their bot lane, as they might be using their academy players instead.

For the upcoming Lock-In Tournament, it’s likely that Team Liquid will opt to keep playing with Hans Sama, with academy support Bill “Eyla” Nguyen alongside him. If Liquid opts to field CoreJJ instead, he’ll have to do so with the academy bot laner, Bill “Eyla” Nguyen. Both academy players have been actively scrimming and should be able to fill the gap without any issues.

In any case, it’s a blow for Liquid, who brought in Bjergsen, Bwipo and Hans Sama, looking for domestic and international success. Chances are CoreJJ might still acquire his green card, in which case the orginal plans continue. For the lock-in tournament it’ll be too late however, as it starts on January 14 and runs until January 30. The LCS itself is scheduled to begin on February 5.
