Overwatch 2 Executive Producer departs from Blizzard

Development of Overwatch 2 has taken another blow as the team loses its Executive Producer, Chacko Sonny. He will leave the company on Friday.

Executive Producer exits before the 2022 launch

Only recently a ray of hope appeared in front of the battered fanbase as they finally got some announcements for Overwatch 2. With a special exhibition match during the Overwatch League’s Grand Finals on September 25 things seemed to be looking up again. But amidst these hopes another high-level exit from the developer team is casting doubts on the new game yet again.

According to the report by Bloomberg Sonny’s exit is not linked to the ongoing allegations and investigations against Activision Blizzard. Instead he was hailed as a well-respected stabilizing force after Game Director Jeff Kaplan’s exit back in April. Where Sonny is headed to next is unknown, Blizzard has also not yet announced his replacement on the Overwatch 2 team.

It remains to be seen if this departure will impact the ongoing development of overwatch 2.
