Pavle “Yoppa” Kostić passed away on November 23rd due to COVID infection complications. Yoppa was a professional LoL player since 2016. The toplaner had played for MAD Lions, Vitality.Bee, and Schalke 04. Just 23 years old, the Serbian player died just days after becoming a free agent and surveying options for the 2022 season.
The Esports Balkan League announced Yoppa’s passing via Twitter. The league, teams, and fellow players have all since expressed their grief and condolences regarding the sudden passing. Former teammates and coaches such as Selfmade, Broken Blade, and Mac shared their experiences with Yoppa and their sadness.
Team Vitality gave Yoppa a memorial post. Given he was most recently the active toplaner for Vitality.Bee, the organization recalled their cherished memories with the player before his passing. “We have wonderful memories of you and our time spent with you in Berlin. You will remain forever engraved in our memories” the Tweet read.
Yoppa is said to have passed away due to COVID-19 complications. It is unclear what went wrong with the toplaner’s COVID treatment. Likely the reasons behind his death will not be explored in the near future as the family and friends are still expressing their grief.
