Rekkles on Kcop move: “For me, it felt like I was once again reminded of why I’m doing this.”
Rekkles had one of the most shocking roster moves potentially in LEC history, as the superstar ADC left the European main stage to enter the French regional league, the LFL. Despite representing EU at Worlds countless times and lifting the LEC trophy, the Swedish bottom laner opted to move to the ERLs following his short stint on G2 Esports.
Though Kcorp underwent massive roster changes, as xMatty, Targamas, and Cinkrof ‘moved up’ to LEC starting roster, the team remains one of the most accoplished ERL squads. Fans had their first glimpse of Rekkles under the Kcorp banner in a show match versus KOI.
Though Kcorp lost in a 1-2 series to Ibai and Pique’s new esports venture, Rekkles shed some light on his move to Kcorp this offseason. “It’s so nice for me to not have to be that guy any more” he told Laure. “It takes such a huge burden off my shoulders” Rekkles stated, as the figurehead for Fnatic, Rekkles certainly was expected to carry a leadership role throughout his career.
Rekkles expressed his gratitude to Kcrop during his interview, stating “without KCorp, I wouldn’t have played next year.” Coming off of G2, Rekkles was unable to find a team and expressed that he did not want to join a team halfway through Spring. Though countless LEC players are teamless heading into the 2022 season, Rekkles has found an unlikely home in Paris, and intends on seeing through this project.
