Replication, a new VALORANT game mode, teased by Riot Games
Riot Games tweeted a short 23-second video with nothing more than “Gear up for VALORANT’s newest game mode, Replication. Coming soon.” as extra information.
The short video shows us the A site on Breeze and no less than eleven Brimstone smokes covering the entire bomb spot. Since Brimstone is limited to three smokes, this indicates there’s more than one Brimstone on the team, even if we only see one agent running through the smokes.
There are still a lot of unknowns at this time. Can agents “replicate” other agents’ abilities? Can more than one player choose the same agent (on the same team)? Does this mean we can potentially see ten Boom Bots trucking through the maps? A flurry of Sova darts? Will this game type be open only to Breeze or all maps?
Breeze as a map has a more open map design and stands in stark contrast with the tighter, more chokepoint-oriented maps already in the ranked rotation. While multiple Raze ultimates flying through mid Split might be cool for a game or two, I’m not sure how long it would take for that novelty to wear off.
Whatever the answers to our questions, one thing is certain, and that is that Replication is going to be a messy and chaotic game mode.
Riot did not reveal any information on the duration of the game mode, when it will be added to VALORANT client, or how long players will be able to queue for the game mode.
