Riot Games announce All-Star Event (featuring a new Ornn skin)

Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends, has announced their annual All-Star event. With the All-Star event Riot will close out the 2020 competitive season of the game. Of course the event will be played online and the format has received an overhaul to facilitate this.

The All-Star Event will be grouped into two different parts, namely the Underdog Uprising and Superstar Showdown. Things will start out with the Underdog Uprising event, where players from the four major regions (LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS) will take on players from two minor leagues. Just like in other years, the players that will participate for their region will be selected by the fans. Underdog Uprising will start on Friday December 18.

The Superstar Showdown will take place during the course of the event after the Underdog Uprising event, lasting until Sunday December 20. The four major regions will be represented by three teams. The All-Stars (five top pro players voted by fans), the Legends (five top veterans) and the Queue Kings (five top influencers). According to Riot Games, there’ll be some unforeseen twists to the All-Star matches, however.

The 2020 All-Star Event will also raise money for charity with a new skin. This time that skin is Elderwood Ornn, which will cost 1350 Riot Points and will be available starting December 16. All proceeds will go to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Donating to charity and finally getting a new Ornn skin seems like a win-win situation.
