Highly anticipated updates to one of League of Legends most played assassins, Rengar, may finally hit live servers. In a post made by LoL designer Kevin “Captain Gameplay” Huang, the champions ultimate ability (Thrill of the Hunt) is set to receive some major changes.
On Twitter, Huang teased players with a screencap of the potential new ability description. This new iteration of the ability would give Rengar a passive ability to leap on opponents while camouflaged. Of course, this signature mechanic of the champion used to belong to another ability, Unseen Predator. This change may imply that further changes are being made, at least to Unseen Predator and Thrill of the Hunt.
This new version of the ultimate would also camouflage Rengar slightly sooner and give the assassin true sight, meaning players can see any hidden champions whether through invisibility or any other means.
These changes to Rengar have been in the works for quite a while. Months ago, Riot developers stated that they sought to make the assassin champion ‘more accessible’ to lower ranked players. Though the ultimate seems to be the focus now, past proposed changes included altering Rengar’s Battle Cry and Bola Strike. It is entirely possible that we could see an entire kit rebuild of Rengar similar to that of Tahm Kench several months ago.
Riot Games has yet to release a timeline for this champion rework, as this vague reference has been the latest update on the state of Rengar in months.
